研究者対象のアメリカ先住民アートの模倣問題に関する研究会（使用言語：英語）

「先住民族の10年市民連絡会」主催の講演会とは別に、立教大学アメリカ研究所主催の小セミナーを行います。
日時：11月08日（木曜日）午後6:30頃から午後9:00
会場：立教大学池袋キャンパス、11号館2階、A203教室
演題：
「アメリカ先住民アートの模倣問題−−概況および現状認識」
"Imitating Native American arts: Zuni and Hopi artists' recognitions of current situation in the global market."
要旨：
「アメリカ先住民が制作する各種アートは今日グローバル市場で売買されている。だが一方で特定の民族集団に特徴的な制作技法、および特定作家の考案した図案が非アメリカ先住民によって模倣され、それらが『アメリカ先住民製』として販売されることも珍しくない。本研究会では、まず文化人類学の立場から同問題に対して研究を続けている伊藤敦規氏（都立大院生）がアメリカ先住民アートの模倣品問題の概況説明を行う。次に合衆国各地で模倣品問題に関する消費者教育活動を行っているトニーエリアッチョ・ジュニア氏（ニューメキシコ州：ズニ・トライブ）が、1990年に同問題について罰則規定を制定した合衆国連邦法『インディアン美術工芸法1990』を紹介し、現地NGO、およびズニ・トライバル政府としての立場から展望を述べる。そして来日中の四名のアリゾナ州ホピのジュエリー作家達に作家としての立場からジュエリー制作の社会的な意味や日本市場も含めたホピ・ジュエリーの模倣品問題に対する私見を述べていただく。」
"Native American arts and crafts are purchased in the global market. However, it is not rear cases that selling imitation arts and crafts with the words of "made by Native American" or "made by particuler artist"for the commodities which are made by non-Native Americans nor perticular one. This seminar will focus on the Native American arts and crafts imitation issues. First, Atsunori Ito(Ph.D. course student at Tokyo Metropolitan University) will review this issue and introduce what happens in Japanese market. Second, Mr. Tony Eriacho, Jr.(Zuni Tribe, New Mexico) will explain the US federal legislation, "Indian Arts & Crafts Act 1990", which was enacted in 1990 and prescribe the criminal punishment to whom display or sell imitation Native American arts and crafts in the states. Then we will have the comments from 4 of Hopi jewelry artists about the fake issues from social and economic perspectives living a lives by arts on the reservation."
